Kamya Panjabi slams Vikas Gupta for claiming he dated late Pratyusha Banerjee: 'Does he want fame?'

Kamya Panjabi has criticised Vikas Gupta for claiming that he had dated late Pratyusha Banerjee. Here's what she said.

Actor Kamya Panjabi has slammed Vikas Gupta over his claim that he had dated late actor Pratyusha Banerjee. Kamya said that what had happened shouldn't be raked up now as Pratyusha isn't there to verify the claims. Calling it a sensitive matter, Kamya added that nobody has the right to speak about Pratyusha now.

Pratyusha Banerjee died of an apparent suicide in 2016.

Recently, Vikas Gupta had revealed that Pratyusha Banerjee had found out about his bisexuality after they had ended their relationship. He had said that he dated two women who knew about his sexual orientation, adding that one of them was Pratyusha. He, however, refused to name the second woman.

Speaking to a leading daily, Kamya Panjabi said, “Let’s respect those who are not with us and not talk about anyone’s personal life. Pratyusha isn’t there to tell the world whether it’s true or incorrect. She isn’t there to verify these claims. Why is Vikas talking about his past with her now? Fame chahiye ki kya chahiye (Does he want fame?) I don’t appreciate it at all. I didn’t read or watch the interview. I don’t want to know ki Pratyusha ke baare mein sach likha hai, jhooth likha hai ya tareef likhi hai (I don't want to know if the truth or lies or praises were written about Pratyusha).”

Pratyusha died of an apparent suicide in 2016. Her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh was accused of abetment to suicide. Rahul was granted anticipatory bail by the Bombay High Court three months after the death of Pratyusha.

Previously, Kamya and Vikas had said that Pratyusha had complained about Rahul's behaviour, adding that he would physically abuse her publicly.

Pratyusha is best known for the television show Balika Vadhu.
