Yami Gautam in a pastel floral-embellished lehenga is a vision we’re still daydreaming about. The actor was the showstopper for designer Reynu Taandon at India Couture Week 2018 on Sunday.

Yami Gautam showed up on the India Couture Week 2018 runways on Sunday looking magical, and almost bridal. The actor was dressed in a spectacular lehenga — adorned with colourful embroidery and 3-D dimensional crystals and beads — and perfect hair and make-up. Yami was the showstopper for fashion designer Reynu Taandon’s penultimate show at ICW 2018, presented by Hindustan Times and Sunil Sethi Design Alliance.

Yami’s super-pretty, whimsical floral lehenga actually resembled a chic, grown-up version of a fantasy princess. It’s the juxtaposition of super sexy, flesh-baring and fresh wedding fashion. The silhouette and colour lends itself to every fairy tale reference in the book. With that feminine (and sexy) neckline and dramatic hair and make-up, modern-yet-classic bridal fashion has never looked so good. It’s also completely wearable.

Taandon’s collection was titled Once Upon A Dream. The theme came through in a range of textures, patterns and embellishments adorned on a series of familiar wedding and bridal silhouettes, namely lehengas. A passionate palette of corals and ice cream tones (or just pastels but ice cream colours just sounds so much cooler), like mint, lavender, pink.

Taandon paired colourful, glittering chanderi lehengas covered in beads with luscious, floor-grazing anarkalis, plunging cholis, flowing capes and jackets in various lengths, and occasionally sent out disco-inspired sarees with cape sleeves for the sportier type. Taking inspiration from contemporary brides, who like to take the modern route yet be in touch with traditional values, Taandon’s collection showcased intricate detailing weaved in light weight fabrics.

“The collection is all about the blending of pastel tones and tender flora elements, and have been designed considering modern brides who don’t want to do the same thing the whole world is doing. This time I have used chanderi in a different, a younger way because young girls like to wear less weight, there’s also net and lace. My lehengas are not for one time use, you can wear them 20 years later — they’re forever,” Taandon told Hindustan Times in an interview before her show.

India Couture Week, presented by Hindustan Times and Sunil Sethi Design Alliance, will be on from July 25 to July 29, in Delhi.
