Five bearded men share the story of their transformation after keeping a beard.

There is something more alluring in a man with facial hair than a clean shaven boy-next-door. For most of the men stubble does all the magic and make them look insanely gorgeous. Free spirited and masculine, whatever you may call it, the virtuous story of stubble is undefined and there is always something mysteriously sexy about the bearded folks. As we celebrate the World Beard Day on Saturday, we asked five men about their beard story and how their life changed after turning ‘scruffy’.

I started growing beard because it was in trend and I realised that it makes me look more handsome. I have had my personal style evolution with this. I believe beard in India is very intimidating in a way that people take you more seriously. No one dares to pick up a fight with me now.

It all started in the year 2014 when I was working with a travel company in New Delhi. I was noticed by a designer and he asked me to grow a beard because he wanted a bearded man for his fashion show. And then there was no looking back. I have been getting more work because of it and I would never shave it.

I started growing my beard when I entered college. It’s safe to say it that it literally acted as a transition phase for me- from being a boy right out of school to becoming a man.

I have been growing beard from last three years and I can’t live without beard now. I have not kept it to impress anyone rather it is just for me. It gives me a mature look or sometimes rugged. But that’s part of being a man with other aspects also.

Believe it or not, people start taking you seriously. Beard is a religion to many and for some it is a way to show off their masculinity. It’s been a couple of months that I have been sporting beard and I can witness a massive change in how I look.
