The new season of the Indian Super League might not begin for a few months, but the Delhi Dynamos have already found their replacement for former Italian manager Gianluca Zambrotta.
Former Real Madrid player Miguel Angel Portugal is all set to be announced as the new manager of the Delhi-based franchise, according to reports quoting the Spaniard himself.
“Yes, I’m in contact with Delhi Dynamos. I will be signing the contract in the next 2-3 days,” Miguel Portugal, a former midfielder, told football website goal.com.

Delhi Dynamos have yet to win the ISL with their best showing coming last season in the third year of the league, when they made the semi-finals.
Miguel Portugal, 61, played for numerous clubs in Spain but is best known for his time at Real Madrid from 1979-83, where he won multiple trophies. The other notable sides he played for are Cordoba, Rayo Vallecano and Real Valladolid.
Portugal brings with him a wealth of managerial experience in European football. Aside from managing Real Madrid’s Castilla (youth side), he has also had stints at Racing Santander and Cordoba. He has also plied his trade at Bolivian side Club Bolivar and Brazil’s Atletico Paranaense.

He has also served as Real Madrid technical director but never managed the side. He came close to getting the job when German Bernd Schuster was sacked, but then president Ramon Calderon preferred Juande Ramos instead.
Portugal has also written a book on football training.
