FIFA World Cup 2018: Harry Kane - The talisman for England in Russia
England will count on goals from newly appointed captain Harry Kane to fire the team to glory in Russia.
108 goals in 140 appearances – Harry Kane’s Premier League record speaks for itself. The Tottenham Hotspur striker has been in prolific goal-scoring form in the last four seasons with the 24-year old getting 20 or more on all the four occasions. When it comes to the national side, his record (12 goals from 23 matches) is one of the best in recent times.
As a result, Kane has established himself as a firm fan favourite and in Russia, he will be certainly be a key asset for England football team as they aim to win the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1966.
The 2017-18 season was extra special for Harry Kane as he scored 30 goals in a Premier League season for the first time in his career and the Tottenham striker also became the second-fastest footballer to score 100 Premier League goals after legendary forward Alan Shearer.

On the international front, the story was somewhat similar as he scored 5 times during their unbeaten FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign and was given the England Player of the Year Award in 2017.
There are few strikers in the Premier League – let alone the England football team – who have showed more consistency than Harry Kane in the recent years. The striker has been the cornerstone of the Tottenham offence and it comes as no surprise that he was handed the captaincy by coach Gareth Southgate.
Kane is a footballer who can lead by example and with the England side lacking strong characters, this was be an easy choice for the team management. However, this will be the first time that Kane will be performing at such a huge platform and it will be interesting to see how the Spurs superstar reacts to the pressure of breaking England’s World Cup curse.
