Portugal thrashed New Zealand 4-0 in their final Group A game at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 in St. Petersburg today, to book their place in the semifinals of the tournament as the group winners. Contrary to speculation, Cristiano Ronaldo started, and later scored, in today’s game against the Kiwis. Prior to the game, Ronaldo had brushed off allegations of tax evasion in Spain with man-of-the-match performances in the 2-2 draw with Mexico and 1-0 victory over hosts Russia, where he scored the winner.
