Ardee City officials convicted in graft case

A Gurgaon court on Monday held three executives of Ardee City Infrastructure Private Limited — the promoters of Ardee City Gurgaon, including its director, guilty of offering bribe to a senior officer of Haryana State Vigilance Bureau three years ago.

The trio, including the woman director Shaifali Verma, was remanded in judicial custody in Bhondsi jail for a day.

The court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on Tuesday when they are produced in court. Company executives Tarkish Mathur and Manoj Panday are the other two accused.

Ardee City Infrastructure Private Limited is also known for constructing two landmark high-rise commercial towers — Gopal Das Bhawan and Vijaya Building at Barakhamba Road in New Delhi.

The trio was booked under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act in 2009 when they had allegedly attempted to bribe the then HSVB deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Krishan Murari with R1.5 lakh at his office in Gurgaon.

He was investigating a land fraud case related to Ardee City Infrastructure. Murari, who is currently posted as DCP (traffic) Faridabad, said Shaifali Verma and Tarkish Mathur had tried to influence the investigation into the land fraud case in August 2009.
