Boy alleges ‘wife’ forced him into child marriage, she lodges rape case

He is 17, she is 19. The met through Facebook in 2014 and soon fell in love. With their families not objecting to their relationship, they got married in September 2015.

Ten months later, love turned into hate. The boy, a Class 12 student, lodged a police case against his wife under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. He alleged she forced him to marry her even though he was underage. He accused her of assaulting her many times.

The woman, who stopped studying after marriage, lodged a rape case against the boy. She alleged her husband was trying to abandon her.

The police have booked her under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and the child marriage Act. The boy has been booked in a rape case.

The police said the teen lived in Ashok Vihar. Before marriage, the girl lived in Subhash Nagar.

After preliminary questioning, they found that one of the boy’s relatives was urging him to re-marry, said investigating officer Sunil Kumar.
