NHAI to start repair work on NH8 stretch from Kherki Daula to Kotputli in a week

It may be recalled that on December 17 last year, a large chunk of concrete had fallen from the Rampura flyover, after which traffic on the underpass below it was halted by authorities for repairs.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will start repair work on the main carriageway and service lanes of NH-8 between the Kherki Daula toll plaza and Kotputli in Jaipur within a week, officials privy to the matter said.

An amount of ₹21 crore has been sanctioned by the NHAI for urgent and special repair of parts of this road. The move comes after a number of complaints were lodged with the highway authority both in Jaipur and its headquarters in Delhi by residents living in developing sectors beyond Kherki Daula, who regularly have to take this route to go to their offices in Manesar.

After the incident, the poor condition of service lanes and main carriageway between Kherki Daula and Manesar had come under the scanner, as several residents voiced their concerns to the NHAI as well as on social media.

After repairing that portion, work will begin on the stretch between Manesar and Kherki Daula. All potholes, damaged surface on the main carriageway and service lanes would be repaired, Giri said.

Residents welcomed the decision and reiterated the urgent need for repairs. “We have been chasing NHAI officials and the concessionaire for quite some time. Hopefully work to fill potholes, installation of street lights, cleaning of drains and removal of encroachments begins soon,” Manoj Lakhani, a resident, said.

The NHAI, however, said that these funds were meant for road repairs and streetlights would be installed later.
