Passengers is directed by Oscar-nominee Morten Tyldum.

The two stars are seen as deep space travellers in newly-released stills, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Pratt and Lawrence play travellers on a 120 year journey to a distant land, but are mistakenly awakened 90 years before arrival.

They’re alone on a spaceship 90 years away from civilization.

Speaking about the sci-fi romance, director Morten Tyldum said, “It’s one of those stories that really grabs you and you fall in love with it. It’s very smart and funny and clever and such a page turner I couldn’t put it down. Every 10 pages, something new happens! At the same time it’s a very intimate movie while taking place on this epic scale.”

Written by Jon Spaiths, Passengers will hit the theatres on December 21. It also stars Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, Aurora Perrineau and Kimberly Battista.
