Harry Potter author JK Rowling called US presidential candidate Donald Trump worse than Voldemort in a Tweet on Wednesday, and Twitter, outraged, came out in defence of The Dark Lord, with most saying Trump’s villainy can’t be trumped.
The post sent Twitter into somewhat of a frenzy, perhaps the first time The Dark Lord (Voldemort that is) has received such warm support and love. Sure, he attempted to murder a defenceless baby, but so what? Have you seen the things Trump has been saying (without the slightest hint of irony, might we add)?
Trump, the billionaire Republican, is the gift that keeps on giving, providing comedians all over the world with enough fodder to last at least 7 Horcrux-enhanced lifetimes. Voldemort, on the other hand, is one of popular culture’s most enduring villains, who was at least partially based on Adolf Hitler (another unsavoury man with whom Trump has been compared recently).

A petition has even started to have Trump banned from Britain. Another, which claims Trump is guilty of “unrepentant, persistent verbal attacks on various groups of people”, which is demanding that Robert Gordon University, in Aberdeen, Scotland, revoke his honorary degree, has been signed by more than 4,000 people.
