Actor James McAvoy has shaved his head for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Director Bryan Singer has shared a photograph of the actor, who plays Professor Xavier in the forthcoming film, with a bald head, on photo-sharing website Instagram, reports aceshowbiz.com.

In the image, McAvoy can be seen sitting in a barbershop wearing a black robe while a hairdresser shaves the actor's head.

McAvoy stars in X-Men: Apocalypse alongside returning cast members including Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Evan Peters and Lucas Till.

They are joined by new additions Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Lana Condor as Jubilee G and Olivia Munn as Psylocke.
