X-Men: Apocalypse, the ninth in the venerable superhero series has grossed Rs 10.16 crore in two days of release at the Indian box office, beating the highly-anticipated Bollywood release, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer Sarbjit.
Sarbjit, a loose retelling of Indian farmer Sarabjit Singh’s imprisonment in Pakistan after he was arrested under suspicion of espionage, trailed X-Men: Apocalypse with a gross collection of Rs 8.25 crore over two days.

Both films, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, are expected to see a bump in collections on Sunday, which could mean a weekend victory for Bryan Singer’s film.

2016 has been a great year for Hollywood movies in India with The Jungle Book breaking records to go on to collect more than Rs 181 crore.
Captain America: Civil War also performed really well, grossing Rs 78 crore in the two weeks since its release.
Kung Fu Panda 3 also did solid business in India, going on to become the highest-earning animated film ever in the country.
