Paresh Rawal has always voiced his opinions on socio-political situations. He has also been among the firsts to comment on anything good that’s happening in the society. Rawal, who has been a former Lok Sabha member himself, took to social media to extend his support and encourage Tukaram Mundhe, Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) of Maharashtra.
Writing on X (formerly Twitte) Rawal wrote, “To put it with humility and respect that it should the priority and Dharm of Honourable CM @Dev_Fadnavis ji to protect Shri @Tukaram_IndIAS that he should not be xfered or shuned out of his department.”
Speaking exclusively to HT City, Rawal shared what made him come out in support of the IAS officer. “The kind of hygiene standards we are following, it is very frightful and we are dreading with fear of getting food poisoning. And there’s no accountability. So, when officers like Tukaram Mundhe come in, you are always happy and you celebrate,” he said. However, Rawal is also scared that things might not last for long. “There’s also this hidden fear that he might be shunned, transferred or trapped in a scandal and we will be back to the horrible standard of food [hygiene],” said the veteran actor.

{{/usCountry}}The actor feels that not just celebrities, but even the common man’s support and encouragement for Mundhe can have a positive impact. “Why just industry, even common man can come and raise their voice and say that we need this gentleman,” he said, adding “If there’s adulteration in Paneer and milk, what should one eat?”
Rawal believes that there should be strict action taken against offenders. “When you live in Mumbai, there is a certain standard of lifestyle that you need to maintain regardless of where you come from in the society. If there’s adulteration in Paneer and milk, it is a crime, or rather a huge sin and should be met with the most stringent of punishments. There’s a lot of lapse and leniency in our law. So, it feels good to see such officers coming,” he shared.
Mundhe has definitely been one of the major topics on social media these days. And some of the netizens are referring to his actions as the ones we saw in Rawal’s film Nayak (2001) starring Anil Kapoor. When asked Rawal about this comparison, he quipped, “It’s all fictional in Nayak. The character was a CM for one day, but I wish Tukaram Mundhe stays for years to come. Lastly, I wish more people like him come and the government will support them.”
