Rain had already shortened the game to 46 overs per side when Kane Williamson’s brilliant 100 took New Zealand to 291 in 45 overs. Australia made a good comeback, thanks to some superb death bowling by Josh Hazlewood, who picked up career-best figures of 6/52 to help Australia bowl New Zealand out. Rain again stopped play during the break and Australia’s target was shortened to 235 from 33 overs.
