The national capital has been fortified as it prepares to celebrate the 80th Independence Day on August 15. Delhi Police and security forces have beefed up surveillance and intensified checks across the city.
The deployment of police personnel has been increased with forces being stationed at strategic points. The security forces are also carrying out intensified checks at entry and exit routes of the national capital.
Public places across Delhi are under heightened surveillance as movement of large number of people is expected.

The security arrangements come ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15.
Delhi Traffic Police digitally maps parking near Red Fort
In a unique initiative, the Delhi Traffic Police has digitally mapped seven designated parking sites near the Red Fort. The police has collaborated with Google Maps and Mappls to ensure that visitors and dignitaries attending the Independence Day celebrations can navigate and access the parking facility without any hassle.

{{/usCountry}}While the seven parking locations have been mapped on Google Maps, the Mappls app will generate QR codes for each site. Visitors can scan the QR codes to locate their designated parking lot. The Delhi Traffic Police has shared the details of the parking on its official X handle.
Security up in Gurugram, Faridabad
Gurugram Police have deployed around 4,500 personnel and set up 11 major checkpoints across the district ahead of Independence Day to ensure security, traffic management and public safety.
Additional personnel, including quick reaction teams (QRTs), have been deployed at celebration venue and other strategic areas. VIP routes, entry and exit points, parking areas and other sensitive locations are being strictly monitored. Special checking of hotels, inns, dharamshalas, restaurants, malls and clubs will also be conducted.
Visitors will undergo screening using metal detectors, with women being screened by female police personnel. Rooftop surveillance, anti-sabotage checks, QRTs and special traffic arrangements have also been deployed.
Five fire tenders and five ambulances will remain stationed at venues. Faridabad Police have similarly established 11 interstate checkpoints to screen suspicious vehicles and individuals.
Delhi Metro to begin services at 4 am
The DMRC has announced that the Delhi Metro services will commence at 4 am on August 15 and run at a frequency of 30 minutes on all line till regular services begin. This has been done to ensure easy commute for special guests, invitees and the general public attending the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort.

The Delhi Metro corporation has provided 1.30 lakh special pre-vended QR tickets to the Ministry of Defence for special guests and bona fide invitees.
How to reach Red Fort by Delhi Metro?
To reach the Red Fort by Delhi Metro, passengers can get down at any of the three nearest metro stations. These include The Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate metro stations.
