The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Friday passed a resolution recommending that Jewar’s Noida International Airport be renamed Narendra Modi International Airport after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the meeting of the state cabinet, which also congratulated the Prime Minister on completing 25 years of continuous leadership as the head of government.
“The state cabinet is grateful to the Prime Minister for gifting the NOIDA International Airport Jewar to Uttar Pradesh, which is the state’s largest airport and going to become India’s largest aviation hub. In the coming years, this airport will take the state’s economy, industry, tourism and global connectivity to new heights. With this sentiment the state cabinet is adopting the resolution recommending renaming of NOIDA International Airport as the Narendra Modi International Airport, NOIDA, Jewar,” Yogi said, reading out the resolution.
Much significance is being attached to the state cabinet’s move, signalling strong faith in the PM’s leadership ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
UP’s two deputy chief ministers, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with ministerial colleagues representing BJP allies, including Sanjay Nishad, Om Prakash Rajbhar, Ashish Patel and Anil Kumar, were present at the state cabinet meeting and when the CM briefed the media about the decision.
