A police official of Tral said a blast took place near the residence of National Conference leader Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, who is the son of a former legislator late Mohammad Subhan Bhat.

“Ashraf was at his home when the blast took place. It is not clear whether the sound was due to a grenade blast or some other thing. However, there was no loss of life and property,” he said.

On Tuesday, militants shot and injured a special police officer in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, whose leg was amputated at a hospital.
