A Keralam court on Thursday remanded the managing director of Reporter TV to 15 days’ judicial custody after the excise department arrested him for allegedly possessing liquor in excess of permissible limits at his home.

The hearing on the bail petition, moved by the accused Anto Augustine‘s counsel, took place Thursday, with the court in Wayanad’s Sultan Bathery expected to pronounce the order on Friday. The accused was shifted to the district jail in Mananthavady.

According to excise officials, around 67 litres of liquor, including 43 litres of foreign-made foreign liquor (FMFL) and seven litres of wine, were seized from Augustine’s residence in Wayanad during raids over a separate case on Wednesday. A person may possess only up to 2.5 litres of FMFL and 3.5 litres of wine at their domestic premises. The raids were part of probe into alleged irregularities over the visit of Messi and the Argentine football team.
