Snowfall in Himachal: State reels under biting cold
The MeT has predicted more snow, rain in next 24 hours.
Heavy snowfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh has intensified cold across the hill state. The snowfall disrupted normal life as several roads were closed and power supply was disrupted in many parts of Shimla district.
Maximum temperatures plummeted across the state and dropped by five to six notches.
Shimla meteorological centre has predicted more snow, rains in next 24 hours at few places of higher reaches of the state. Director, Shimla meteorological centre, Manmohan Singh said, “Snow is likely to occur at few places in the districts of Chamba, Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Mandi and Shimla ”.
In last 24 hours Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti recorded minimum temperature at -4.9 degrees Celsius, Kalpa -1.0, Dalhousie -0.2, Manali recorded zero degree Celsius and Shimla 3.4 degrees Celsius.
Shimla deputy commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur said, “Patrolling is on to assess the damage due to snow. and restoration work is on.”
