Union minister JP Nadda underwent a coronary angiography at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, after experiencing uneasiness on Thursday evening, the hospital said in a statement.

Nadda, who is also the Union health and family welfare minister, was evaluated and underwent several tests, including a coronary angiography, on August 13, a statement from AIIMS said, reported news agency ANI.

“Shri JP Nadda, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare was evaluated for uneasiness with tests including a coronary angiography on the evening of 13th August 2026. He is currently stable and admitted for observation in the Dept of Cardiology,” the AIIMS statement said.

Nadda's hospitalisation came hours after the Monsoon Session of Parliament concluded on Thursday. The final day of the session saw a heated exchange between the Opposition and Nadda, who is the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha.
Nadda's response on ‘purification row’
During the proceedings, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge raised the alleged “purification” of a stage at Haldwani’s Ram Lila Maidan, where he had addressed a gathering. Kharge alleged that some BJP workers conducted a havan and “shuddikaran” at the venue after his event.
Nadda condemned the incident and said the BJP did not support such actions. “The BJP does not subscribe to such activities. The incident is painful not just for the Congress but for all of us,” he said.

Kharge said he had not referred to any religion but had only highlighted issues faced by people. He demanded action against those responsible, including a case under the Untouchability (Offences) Act and their arrest.
Amid protests by the Opposition, Nadda assured the House that the incident would be investigated and appropriate action taken. He also objected to Kharge's use of the term “you people” while referring to those allegedly involved.
The BJP is in power in Uttarakhand, which is due to go to polls next year.
