A special anti-corruption court on Wednesday declared 14 accused, including six students, who have been evading arrest in the infamous CET paper leak scam 2012 as “proclaimed offenders”.
The declaration came after the crime branch of the Jammu and Kashmir police, which is investigating the scam, failed to arrest the accused - students and brokers - and approached the court with a motion to declare the 14 accused as proclaimed offenders.
Declaring the 14 accused as proclaimed offender on Wednesday, special judge, anticorruption court (Kashmir), ML Manhas directed the investigating body concerned to publish the copy of the proclamation order in the areas in which the absconders ordinarily reside and in local dailies through the director, information state.
The crime branch had submitted before the court that the total number of accused against whom the charge-sheet were submitted before the competent courts in the MBBS scam was 43, of which 14 had been evading their arrest.
