Girl shows ?symptoms? of polio, hospitalised

CONTRARY TO the much-publicised pulse polio campaign launched by the Government to rid the country of polio, a five-year old girl residing in Bagouda village in Shajapur was hospitalised after she showed ?symptoms? of the disease. Rupa Mewada was noticed walking with a limp by her family members on Friday.

They got her admitted to the district hospital immediately. Civil Surgeon Dr Bhavbhuti Singh Maina, who examined the girl, said  samples of tests were sent to Mumbai and the report was awaited.

Two others, including the girl’s elder sister and uncle, too were polio affected. The girl has been taking the polio drops from time to time, informed her parents.

Civil surgeon Maina said regional medical expert from WHO was also due to arrive from Indore to examine the girl.
