On a visit to Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a boat ride and an e-rickshaw ride, launched a scheme to give free cooking gas to women and attacked the previous UPA government on Sunday.

The PM visited his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi, later in the day where he said his government believed in “going to the root” of problems to resolve them.
“Many governments came in past, which worked for the rich. This time a government has come which aims at benefiting the poor,” he said, accusing the previous regimes of practising vote-bank politics.
