Number of persons missing in boat mishap in Chambal river rises

The number of persons reported missing when a boat carrying devotees overturned in Chambal river in Bah area of Agra, UP, has risen to eight. The devotees had gone to see Bateshwar Mela in Agra.

The number of persons reported missing when a boat carrying devotees overturned in Chambal river in Bah area of Agra, UP, on Wednesday, has risen to eight. The devotees belonging to Nagara area of Porsa block, Morena, had gone to see Bateshwar Mela in Agra.

Joint rescue operations by Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh police teams are still in progress, though rescuers had not been able to fish out or locate bodies of missing persons till the time report was filed.

Rescue operation commenced on Thursday morning and could not be carried on Wednesday due to darkness and danger from crocodiles in the river.
