Rajiv Menon launches cinematographer course

The institute offers a six-month course, that is open to graduates in any discipline from a recognised university.

Leading Film Director and Cinematographer Rajiv Menon launched 'Mindscreen Film Institute', a new initiative to nurture young talent for the film industry and provide a platform for their skills.

"Our (institute's) learning environment is designed to move one step beyond current levels, expand vision, enhance technical skills and unleash the potential to imagine, think and create a new way," he said addressing a press conference here on the launch.

Replying to questions, he said six-month course was open to graduates in any discipline from a recognised university. Those currently working as assistant cameraman in the film industry were also eligible having passed SSLC and with a minimum of three years experience in shooting of films and videos in multimedia.

The specialised course would focus on techniques and aestheics of cinematography, he said adding the intensive programme would be a combination of indepth technical theory sessions alongwith comprehensive hands-on practical workshops.

Besides, he said, the students would also be exposed to live projects since the institute was part of 'Mindscreen', a decade old reputed film production company founded by him.

He said he also proposed to start a script writing course.
