Suit claiming properties of Maharaja Rewa dismissed
THE ALLAHABAD High Court has dismissed a testamentary suit filed by Dr Sajjan Singh and two others, demanding possession of the properties of Maharaja Rewa, which, they claimed, had been bequeathed to them in a will. The properties are situated in Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra and Allahabad district.

Sajjan Singh is brother of Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh.
Sajjan Singh, HS Srivastava and one Ajay Singh had filed the testamentary suit for obtaining probate of properties of Maharaja Rewa on the basis of a will.
Justice Sunil Ambwani dismissed the suit imposing Rs 5000 as cost on the plaintiffs- Dr Singh and others.
The Court dismissed the suit on the ground that the plaintiff had failed to prove that the will was genuine. Their suit was opposed by Maharani Praveen Kumari, widow of Maharaja of Rewa, and son Pushparaj Singh.
Dismissing the suit, Justice Ambwani held that the will dated January 5,1993, alleged to have been executed by the Maharaja in favour of Dr Sajjan Singh and two others, namely HS Srivastava and Ajai Singh, was not duly and validly executed by late the Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo.
The court further said, “It is not stated that Maharaja Rewa was in a sound and disposing state of mind to understand the nature, contents and effects of the alleged will dated January 5,1993, on the date it is alleged to be executed.
The will was not prepared on his instructions and appears to be prepared as a result of fraudulent act of the executors and other interested persons in maneuvering circumstances”.
