University professor murdered in Bangladesh

Unidentified assailants beat a university professor to death in northwestern Bangladesh, police and his colleagues said on Friday.

The body of S Taher Ahmed, 58, of the geology department at Rajshahi University, was recovered Friday from a sewerage drain inside the campus after he went missing two days earlier, said police official Faizur Rahman.
The area is 230 kilometers northwest of the capital, Dhaka.
Police have launched an investigation into the murder, Rahman said.
