The results were declared on May 14. This admission of mistake has come after statewide protests, arson and violence and a suicide in Lucknow, against the results.
Poorvanchal University Vice-Chancellor Prof KP Singh told media persons on Saturday that this fault occurred while evaluating the answer sheets.
Prof Singh said the error was discovered by the technical committee that was formed by the state administration to probe the alleged irregularities in the results after the protests.
He said that re-evaluation of the results will be done under the supervision of a separate committee and results declared afresh. “I can claim that there were no intentional errors done while conducting the exam or while processing the results,” he said.
In a sad turn of events, one Dilip Gautam of Lucknow committed suicide by jumping before a train after he failed to make it in the exam.
