After Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys, the US-based Impetus Infotech is the third company which is setting up a large IT SEZ in Indore.

The company plans to invest Rs 100 crore over the next five years on the facility, which will come up on 25-acre land.

“Indore is growing rapidly and will be an IT hub in the next few years. We are setting up a 25-acre IT SEZ campus, which is expected to be operational by 2017. We will be hiring around 2,500 IT professionals to support the growth of our company over the next five years,” Sanjeev Agrawal, vice president (operations) Impetus Infotech said.

The land allocated by the government in 2013 has been notified as an SEZ.

“We have received all the permissions except for the environmental clearance, which we expect in about three months, for starting the construction work,” Agrawal said.

The new facility will cater to increasing demand for ‘big data’ projects from banks and other clients, he said.

A software services and solutions company with focus on big data and product engineering, Impetus is headquartered in California, USA, and also has development centres in other parts of India including Noida, Bengaluru and Gurgaon.

At present, the company has a smaller facility in Crystal IT Park, Indore, which it shares with other software companies.

The state government is showcasing Indore as the software capital of Madhya Pradesh and aspires to take on Pune and Hyderabad in the coming years.
