Suspecting infidelity, a man stabbed his pregnant wife over 50 times before fleeing from his house at Vidur Nagar in Dwarkapuri Colony area in Indore late on Tuesday night.

Deceased Roshni Patidar and Sonu got married two years ago against their families’ wishes.

The accused husband Santosh Patidar alias Sonu has been arrested.

City superintendent of police(CSP) Rupesh Dwivedi said victim Roshni was at first taken to the district hospital where authorities recommended transferring her to the intensive care unit of Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MY) Hospital.

Doctors there could not save her as she had lost excessive blood and the foetus too, had been killed.

Roshni and Sonu got married two years ago against their families’ wishes.

Roshni’s family members alleged that Sonu was a drug-addict and often used to pressurize Roshni to bring dowry. A case of dowry harassment has been registered at Banganga police station.

The victim’s family used to give Rs 5000 per month to her for meeting her expenses.

CSP Dwivedi said Sonu had an altercation with his wife on Tuesday night following which he stabbed her.
