Union external affairs minister Sushama Swaraj on Sunday said foreign direct investment in India has registered 53% growth in the last two years as the ministry has taken up task to help states in their economic development.

Addressing the valedictory session at Global Investors’ Summit here, Swaraj, who represents the Vidisha parliamentary constituency in Madhya Pradesh, urged industrialists to invest in the state and told them that they will benefit three fold if they invest in Vidisha.
“Being an MP from Madhya Pradesh, I will help businessmen directly by addressing their problems. They will benefit more if they invest in Vidisha as it is my constituency and they will benefit further more because the CM’s (Shivraj Singh Chouhan) assembly constituency also falls under Vidisha parliamentary seat. This is how you will get triple benefit,” Swaraj told the gathering of industrialists, businessmen from India and abroad.
“Our aim is to establish contact and dialogue with every country in the world, no matter how small or big it is. The Prime Minister has visited 140 countries. I have visited 40 countries,” she said.
Swaraj further said that the Union government has opened new frontiers in all fields, including business, increasing the growth rate and foreign investments. Stating that Madhya Pradesh has the 7th largest urban population in the country, she said the time is more appropriate to invest in MP as it has all the facilities required for trade, which are backed by strong policies in state and the Centre.
Union urban administration minister Venkaiah Naidu, union environment minister Anil Madhav Dave, union social justice minister Thavarchand Gehlot, union minister of state for petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan also expressed their views on the occasion.
