The high court’s Indore bench gave the directive after hearing a PIL filed by Sanjay Kamle, a resident of Kesarbagh area.

The bench gave two months to the IDA to complete all the remaining work on the bridge, mentioned in a list submitted before the court. It ordered the Indore divisional commissioner to monitor work and submit a report in two months.

IDA and its contractors have missed so far 14 deadlines, and work has been dragging for about eight years.

Construction of four staircases on the sides of the bridge, light poles on both ends of the bridge, light poles on service roads and laying of drainage pipes in nearby colonies dug up during the construction are to be completed.

IDA had proposed a garden and a walkway under the bridge, which is still to be completed. Trees were to be planted on dividers of the bridge.

The bench also ordered IDA to immediately clear payments of work completed by a contractor under the project.
