Superintendent of police, Rajesh Hingankar said Hammu alias Amzad Shah and Golu Pathan -- residents of Avalipura and Gandhwani villages -- were on the run. Police had placed a cash reward of Rs 5,000 each on them for information about their whereabouts.

The duo was booked for rioting, armed with deadly weapon, attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, obscene acts and criminal intimidation for the attack which left one of the victims with a severed hand.

It was during this spiral of violence that Shah and Pathan along with four others attacked the two victims. Police arrested four others, but Shah and Pathan eluded them.

Subsequently, a special team raided various places in Dhar, Barwani, Indore, Sendhwa and Depalpur. On Tuesday, police got a tip-off that the accused were moving towards Dhar from Ratlam. The duo was intercepted in Tornod Phata. During interrogation, the two accused confessed to their crime, Hingankar added.
