The matter came to light after the boy’s father lodged a missing person report at the Goverdhan Vilas police station on May 19. The complainant stated that his son was abducted by some unidentified people when he was going to his shop at Dudhtalai area, said Brijesh Soni, the additional superintendent of police.

The next day the father told the police that he had received a ransom call from his son’s mobile phone number. The father said that the caller let him talk to his son, who informed him that he was kept in a room at an unknown place. The caller initially demanded a ransom of 50 lakh, but later agreed to release the boy in lieu of 3 lakh, the father told the police.

Upon receiving the complaint, superintendent of police (SP) Rajendra Prasad Goyal formed police teams to solve the case. Scanning of CCTV cameras installed at the local railway station showed the boy standing at one of the railway platforms and further investigation established that the boy was last seen boarding a train to Delhi, said Soni, adding that one of the local police teams, with the help of Delhi Police, later caught him in Delhi and brought back to Udaipur.

The police are questioning him further on the ransom demand and if there was anyone else who helped him in the act.
