Several members of the Tagore family were gifted with exceptional qualities and were engaged in creative pursuits in different fields. Apart from Tagore, who was the first Asian to win a Nobel prize, Abanindranath Tagore (1861-1941) and Gaganendranath Tagore (1867-1938) were masters of the Bengal school of art. Satyendranath Tagore (1842-1923) was the first Indian to join ICS. Jyotirindranath Tagore (1849-1925) was an artist, music composer and theatre personality. The poet’s grandfather Dwarkanath Tagore (1794-1846) was one of the earliest entrepreneurs of the country, who ventured in different sectors such as banking, ship building and salt making.

“The project is a brain child of Rabindra Bharati University that is located in the same campus. The tourism department is providing the funds and technical support. Tagore’s ancestral house is a major tourist attraction and the show will add to the appeal,” tourism minister Gautam Deb told HT.

The show will comprise 3D life-like images composed of light and laser beams. Tagore’s own voice will be used in the narration that will be done by actor Soumitra Chatterjee and elocutionist Bratati Bandyopadhyay.

Each show will be able to accommodate about 100 viewers. There will be two shows, the first one being at 7 pm.

The project will be launched with Bengali shows. Hindi and English versions will be added subsequently. The facade of the house will be used as the screen to project the images.
