Election Commission to give PM Modi biopic report on Monday

The top court had asked the EC to watch the film and submit its report in a sealed cover on Monday.

The top court had asked the EC to watch the film and submit its report in a sealed cover on Monday. A committee set up by the poll watchdog watched the film on Wednesday and met the producers of the film. The film producers challenged the EC’s order to not release the eponymous film on PM Modi during the current Lok Sabha elections.

Last week, the EC had barred the release of the film, pointing out that films that subserves the purpose of any political entity or individual should not be displayed in electronic media.

Opposition parties, including the Congress, had approached the commission to demand a ban on the film’s release on the grounds that it violated the model code of conduct..
