“Earlier India’s economy stood at the 11th position; now it is at sixth position and the growth rate has reached 7.03%,” Rawat said, addressing a press conference at the BJP’s state office.

Rawat, who has been campaigning in Rajasthan in support of BJP nominees in the Lok Sabha elections, said country’s youth want Narendra Modi to return as the prime minister. “The young generation of the country wants Prime Minister Modi. Our youth feel Prime Minister Narendra Modi can fulfil their expectation of an empowered India. The youth see only one such face to do this,” he said, claiming that the 55-month rule of Modi has achieved more than 55 years of the Congress rule.

He said the army and government earlier had also resources, but there was a lack of political willpower. “Modi has shown the willpower and now the situation is that after the Pulwama attack, Pakistan and China have been sidelined in the world.”

A terrorist attack killed 40 CRPF troopers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. After that India launched an air strike on a terrorist training camp at Balakot in Pakistan.

“Indira Gandhi used to say ‘Congress Lao, Garibi Hatao’ (Bring Congress, remove poverty); Rajiv Gandhi used to say ‘Congress ka haath, garibo ke saath (Congress is with poor), and now Rahul Gandhi is talking about removing poverty,” Rawat said. “Congress only talks about poverty, but never works to remove poverty.”

Former chairperson of the Rajasthan Women’s Commission Suman Sharma said there is a situation of anarchy in the state due to increase in crimes, particularly against women.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, she mentioned about throwing of acid on a woman teacher in Jodhpur. She said Congress leaders did not take care of the victim but did only photo shoot.

Sharma said, “Gehlot (CM Ashok Gehlot) is busy only for his son Vaibhav and does not care for women and the state. When the situation is such in Gehlot’s home district, then one can understand the situation in the state.” She said, “Young girls are being raped and a bride was kidnapped, and a woman constable in Sanchore committed suicide; state is ashamed of such incidents.”

BJP Mahila Morcha president Nimisha Gaur said the Congress has discontinued the Bhamashah scheme in the state and people are not getting benefits. “Congress national president Rahul Gandhi is talking of giving 50% reservation to women, but he should look into the situation in Rajasthan. Women are not safe; the Congress government should improve the law and order situation in the state,” Gaur said.

Reacting to the BJP charges, Rajasthan Congress Pradesh Committee spokesperson Satyendra Singh Raghav said, “Late Indira Gandhi and late Rajiv Gandhi understood terrorism more than any other politician. They too became victims of terror.” On political willpower, he said, “Indira Gandhi was unbeatable. In the present scenario, the BJP is using the army for political benefits.”

Raghav said, “Under the rule of Indiraji and Rajivji, industries were developed to give employment and eliminate poverty.” On crime, he said, “The government will certainly curb it.”
