There are no permanent friends or foes in politics. Congress’ Gidderbaha MLA and party’s candidate for Bathinda Lok Sabha seat, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, who had defeated Manpreet Singh Badal in 2012 state polls, called on the latter at Badal village on Sunday. With this, Warring kicked off his poll campaign, a day after he was announced the Congress candidate for Bathinda. He also met some local Congress leaders. After the meeting, Warring said he will win the election with help of Manpreet Badal, who assured him of full support. Badal village falls in the Lambi assembly constituency of Muktsar, which is a part of the Bathinda Lok Sabha segment.Notably, the Badals’ stronghold Lambi had given Akali Dal candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal a lead of 35,000 votes in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, and she could defeat Manpreet Badal of the congress by a narrow margin 19,000 votes.Manpreet Badal said, “Warring is a youth leader and we will work for his victory from Bathinda. The delay in announcement of candidate from Bathinda shows that there is a fear in the mind of Badals. In upcoming LS polls, my father Gurdas Badal will also campaign for Warring.”Dares SAD to field Harsimrat Warring dared Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to field Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal from Bathinda. Warring said, “Earlier, Gidderbaha too was considered as Badals’ bastion as former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had won many elections from there, but I won the seat for the Congress. Now, there is perception that Bathidna is Harsimrat’s bastion but there is resentment among the public against the Badals.”“Now, the SAD should announce the candidature of Harsimrat from Bathinda as soon as possible,” he said.
