Lok Sabha elections 2019: Foreign delegates will visit Gurugram for an overview of general elections
On May 11, the visiting delegates will be briefed on election management, including the use of EVMs, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail and other services. On the day of election, the team will visit polling booths in various parts of Gurugram.
Ahead of the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election to be held in Haryana on May 12, a 10-member foreign delegation from Japan, Australia and Bangladesh will visit Gurugram to get an overview of the election process in India.
On May 11, the visiting delegates will be briefed on election management, including the use of EVMs, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail and other services.
On the day of election, the team will visit polling booths in various parts of Gurugram.
“India is one of the biggest democracies in the world, and a fair and peaceful election has been its basis. We are proud that the Election Commission of India selected Gurugram to showcase the election activity to the foreign delegates,” Amit Khatri, deputy commissioner of Gurugram and district election officer, said.
The Gurugram administration has set up six model polling booths, including the HDFC School and Delhi Public Schoolin Sector 47, Patio Club Nirvana Country and Amity International School in Sector 46, the Government Senior Secondary School in Chakkarpur and Pine Crest School in DLF Phase 1.
Additionally, eight pink booths will be managed by all women team of officers, workers, micro observers, and security personnel.
On Tuesday, officers and workers assigned for poll duty received training in operating EVMs and setting up poll booths.
At Government Girls College in Sector 14, the second pilot rehearsal was conducted with presiding officers of Gurugram and Badshahpur. On May 11, the final round of rehearsal will be conducted. Voters can also get assistance through the helpline number 1950 and by visiting the CEO Haryana website.
