Lok Sabha elections 2019: A look at Jagir Kaur’s assets
Kaur won the 2012 assembly election from Bholath assembly constituency by defeating Congress’ Sukhpal Singh Khaira (now Punjab Ekta Party chief) by a thin margin of 519 votes.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate, former minister Jagir Kaur, is the richest among all the contenders of the major political parties fighting the general elections from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab.
Jagir Kaur, a two-time president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), filed her nomination in the presence of Khadoor Sahib returning officer Pardeep Kumar Sabarwal on Friday.
In her affidavit, Kaur has declared total assets of ₹13.91 crore. She is going up against Congress’s Jasbir Singh Dimpa, who has assets worth ₹8.13 crore, Punjab Ekta Party’s Paramjit Kaur Khalra with assets worth ₹1.13 crore and Aam Aadmi Party’s Manjinder Singh Sidhu with assets worth ₹51.51 lakh.
Kaur’s movable asset are valued at ₹46.30 lakh, including jewellery worth ₹29 lakh, car worth ₹7 lakh, a tractor worth ₹5 lakh, besides bank balance.
She has listed her immovable assets’ worth at ₹13.45 crore, including agriculture land worth ₹11 crore, non-agriculture land worth ₹70 lakh, residential buildings worth ₹1.2 core and a share of ₹50 lakh in a building in Chandigarh.
Almost all candidates of the famous political parties in Punjab have fielded their nominations from Khadoor Sahib.
Kaur had won the last election in 2012 assembly polls from Bholath constituency by defeating Congress’ Sukhpal Singh Khaira (now Punjab Ekta Party chief) by a thin margin of 519 votes.
After filing her nominations from Khadoor Sahib, she said, “History will be repeated in Khadoor Sahib and the people will vote for SAD once again.”
Khadoor Sahib is a citadel of the SAD, which has been winning the seat since 1977, except in 1992 when it boycotted the elections.
