The dreaded Blue Whale challenge claimed the life of a class VIII student Aditya Vardhan.

The dreaded Blue Whale challenge claimed the life of a class VIII student Aditya Vardhan (14), a resident of Indira Nagar here. His body was found hanging from the ceiling fan of a room at his residence on Thursday.

Police said his kin later revealed that Aditya was seen playing some game on his mobile for the last two weeks and was visibly tense. His friends said the game he played was Blue Whale. Aditya’s father Rupesh Kumar Singh is an advocate by profession. Police are investigating the matter.

The Blue Whale challenge is undertaken using social media apps, online gaming groups, online community messaging groups, and so on, where a certain administrator or curator targets the vulnerable young player through private chat platform. The curator then gives the player a daily task which culminates on Day 50 with a direction to the player to commit suicide.

The player is also asked to share photos after finishing each challenge.
