Three children injured in feral dog attacks in UP’s Sitapur

At least 14 children have died due to dog attacks in Sitapur so far this year, with eight of the fatalities occurring in May.

The dog menace returned to haunt Sitapur district after a short breather on Tuesday, when feral canines mauled two children and a teenager in Rausa area. Fortunately, nobody was killed in the attacks.

Sitapur divisional forest officer Anirudh Pandey confirmed the attacks. “As per information received, three minors – identified as Kajal (8), Shakib Ali (6) and Mehtab Khan (15) – were injured in separate attacks by feral dogs. They prima facie appear to be canine attacks,” he said.

The injured were rushed to the primary health centre immediately after the attacks, and later released after administration of first aid.

The district administration has asked the officials concerned to look into the fresh attacks and take adequate measures to stop them.
