Moreover, the UP police will also make local coordinators in different countries where large number of UP residents are living to entertain their complaints effectively and rapidly. The UP police have also invited NRIs from different countries to become digital friends to act as coordinating link between common man and the state police in case of any urgent help for their parents or family members living in the state.

“The special twitter handle was launched for NRIs after assessing that the UP police twitter handle @UPPolice is receiving a number of complaints from other countries. Now the separate handle will be helpful in segregating the NRIs’ complaints from other complaints related to local residents and attend it in effective manner,” the DGP said while addressing the press conference after the launch on Tuesday. Twitter India Public Policy Head Mahima Kaul was also present on the occasion.

He said coordinators and digital volunteers’ work will be to prepare the database of UPites living in different countries and create their Whatsapp group to keep them updated about the different services and policies of state police. He said the same database will also be shared with the state police in twitter to remain aware about the UPites living in different countries.

Singh said the coordinators and digital volunteers will also make UPites aware in their respective countries about different services of the state police like UP 100, state police emergency response service, women power line -1090 and registration of e-FIRs.

Earlier on April 20, an NRI Supriya Broadbent, who worked as tax consultant in London, appreciated the state police twitter service through which problems of several NRIs were solved. She was made coordinator for London chapter of UP police twitter handle.
