26-year old murdered over parking row in Mumbai, 1 arrested

A 26-year-old man was killed by two people who attacked him with a knife over a parking row at Antop Hill in Central Mumbai on Thursday night. One of the accused has been arrested.

According to the Antop Hill police, the deceased, Saeed Rashid Shaikh alias Saidu Bengali, 29, is a labourer and his brother-in-law owns a taxi. Shaikh, about few days ago, as per the statement of his brother Mehboob Shaikh 26, had fought with the two goons over parking space in the area.

In retaliation, the two attacked him around 10.30pm in front of Sujata hotel on SM road in Antop hill.

“They pinned him down and strangled him. One of them then stabbed him in the chest with the knife,” said a police official.

The deceased was taken to Sion hospital where he was declared dead and an autopsy was conducted that confirmed the attack.

The police have managed to arrest one of the accused and the other is on the run. The murder weapon has not been recovered.

The deceased and his brother lived in Akbhar Sulieman compound, Kerela Nivas chawl in Antop hill.
