Even as the Congress’ silent protest over action against hawkers at railway stations began at Dadar (West) on Wednesday morning began, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers arrived on the scene and allegedly threw potatoes at the Congress workers, leading to an altercation.
The police had to carry out a lathi charge and detain several workers before the situation settled down.
MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande said: “Both party members have been detained. Our members only wanted to stop the Congress from carrying out the morcha. There was no fracas.”
