Domestic help in Mumbai hides phone in bathroom to shoot videos, arrested

A 20-year-old domestic help was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly recording a video of his employer’s wife, by hiding his iPhone below the washbasin in the bathroom.

According to police, the complainant is a resident of Andheri and has two male servants. The accused servant works in the morning shift and the second one comes in the afternoon, after the first one has left.

The matter came to light on Tuesday morning, around 5am, when the complainant’s daughter heard the alarm bell of a phone ringing. She followed the sound of the ring, which led her to their bathroom, where she saw that an iPhone 4 was fitted behind the plastic pipe’s hook, below their washbasin.

She removed the iPhone and saw the video mode was on and their servant could be seen on it.

In the video, the accused is seen fixing the phone to the pipe and then leaving. Sometime later, her mother, the complainant, can be seen bathing.

The teenager immediately alerted her parents, who filed a complaint with the police. An FIR was registered under section 354 C (voyeurism) of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the accused was arrested.
