According to the police, the complainant, Dattarey Gangadhar Giri, who is a resident of Chunabhatti, claimed that he had first received the call on May 16 when he was at his Mazagoan office. The caller told Giri that he had won a cash voucher of 10,000 on his credit card. She said he had to share his credit card details to claim the prize.

“Giri cut the call, saying he did not have his card with him. He received another call the next day, but he didn’t have his card again. When she called again on May 18, he shared his credit card number and CVV. She identified herself as Neha Sharma from the bank customer service of a public sector bank,” said an official from Byculla police station.
