Mumbai, this is why you were stuck in traffic last evening. Avoid these roads from now on

The Metro-3 line will have Hutatma Chowk station on DN Road, Kalbadevi and Girgaum station on JSS Road and Worli station on Dr Annie Besant Road.

Work on Mumbai’s Metro-3 line (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) began today, May 18, and so have restrictions on travel in South Mumbai.

The Metro-3 line will have Hutatma Chowk station on DN Road, Kalbadevi and Girgaum station on JSS Road and Worli station on Dr Annie Besant Road.

These are the restrictions in place:

24-hour restriction: The northbound stretch of DN Road from Hutatma junction to Purushottamdas Thakurdas Marg junction will be closed to all traffic. There will be no left turn for any vehicle coming from Veer Nariman Road and MG Road at Hutatma Chowk Junction towards DN Road. These curbs apply day and night and stay till the work gets over, whenever that is.

No right turn: Northbound vehicles coming from Sir Phiroze Shah Mehta Road can’t take a right to DN Road.

No parking: Vehicles can’t be parked between Hutatma junction and CST. There will be no parking on Sir Phiroze Shah Mehta Marg and Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg Junction up to Handloom House Junction (DN Road).

Those travelling from MG Road to DN Road can take a left from Bombay Gymkhana towards Hajarimal Somani Marg, then a right from Purushottamdas Thakurdas Marg junction. After going straight, they can take a left from DN Road Junction towards CST Junction.

Turn right: Those taking the Sir Phiroze Shah Marg, can go straight via Maharshi Dadhichi Marg and take a right from MG Road junction towards Hajarimal Somani Marg or Metro junction via MG Road and further straight.

Another road too: Jagannath Shankar Sheth Road, where the Girgaum station will come up, too will see traffic restrictions until the project is completed. Parking will not be allowed on Rajaram Mohan Roy Road – from Girgaum Church to Saifee Hospital.

The southbound stretch of Jagganath Shankar Seth Marg from Thakurdwar Junction upto Shamaldas Gandhi Junction will be closed to all traffic.
