The Maharashtra government has issued an advisory to all its departments and people of the state on the precautions to be taken to avert the attack from the ransomware.
Although some of the government departments, including the state police, came under the attack, the government has claimed the data is safe.
“It is true that some of the departments came under attack, but we have fixed the systems by detaching the affected machines immediately. We have issued an advisory, comprising the dos and don’ts for all our departments and public. The government departments have been told to take due security steps long ago, immediately after some of our computers in revenue department were attacked last year ,” said an official from the information and technology department said.
Taking preventive steps, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials said they will update the security system today. “We have not faced any problems yet. But as preventive steps, we will be closing down applications to boost security for about two hours today,” a senior civic official from the IT department said.
